Inverno was inspired by someone very close to me who once struggled with depression.
Autumn leaves have all fallen now
The skies are grey, the morning air cold
There is no music; the musicians are gone
My days grow shorter, my sleeps longer
Waking at all becomes a task
For my body can no longer take the darkness
My days grow empty, as empty as my thoughts
There’s no use now. I just rest my head
I give up, I say
I surrender
My nights resemble my days
The sky has no dusk, no dawn
Where the night ends I cannot say
It continues on
For one day the sun may shine again
The musicians will return
And warm summer winds will fill the air
